As Chairman of Karr Barth Associates, Tim Maguire manages more than 305 financial professionals and maintains a growing client practice. Tim uses a comprehensive financial planning process to help individuals and business owners reach their financial goals. Through asset accumulation, income protection, education funding, estate planning strategies, and wealth preservation strategies, Tim helps clients prepare for their futures and protect their finances at each life stage.
He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business organization. Tim’s management focus includes professional development and practice growth. He plays an integral role in training of financial professionals in the company and led the development and national implementation of a proprietary financial professional training program. In addition, Tim heads a Financial Professional Development Committee, an executive level managerial team dedicated to increasing the success of newly hired financial professionals.
Tim’s financial career spans more than 23 years. Prior to joining Karr Barth in 1995, Tim spent five years as a financial professional in the Texas Region of his broker-dealer, now Equitable Advisors, achieving awards such as Developing Sales Force associate of the year, Legion of Honor and President’s Cabinet.
Tim has received many other awards for both his production and management results. He resides in Wayne, Pennsylvania with his wife and their four children.

David Fleisher has more than two decades of experience in the financial services industry, focusing on the design and implementation of individual financial plans, investment portfolios, and corporate benefits. His new association with Karr Barth coupled with working alongside Karr Barth President, Tim Maguire, has increased David’s focus and leadership to include more than 305 financial professionals. In his role as Vice Chairman of Karr Barth Associates, his efforts include professional development, strategic planning, and driving growth initiatives across the firm. Dave’s role extends to include supporting associated financial services firms, including Firstrust Financial Resources (FFR)*, where he remains in leadership with Andrew H. McIhenny and Paul Markowich (www.FirstrustFinancialResources.com).
David has been a regular contributer on Philadelphia’s KYW News Radio 1060 delivering business commentary and has appeared in numerous media including CNBC, Bloomberg, FoxBusiness, Marketwatch.com, and Businesswire.com.
David is a leader in the industry as well as the community. In 2003, he received the “40 under 40” Award from the Philadelphia Business Journal as one of the region’s “most dynamic executives” under the age of 40.

From December 2009 to December 2020, Rich successfully lead the Pittsburgh branch as Executive Vice President. With a desire for growth, in January 2021 Rich returned to the Philadelphia branch of Karr Barth, which serves over 120,000 households and businesses throughout the tri-state area.

Matthew Johnston, CFP®
Matt joined Karr Barth in 2014 after working as a middle school math teacher for many years. He grew up in the Philadelphia area and earned his B.S. degree in Accounting from the Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University.
Matt enjoys building long-lasting relationships with his clients and helping them with the financial planning process. By conducting a thorough analysis based on needs and desires, he develops comprehensive and customized strategies designed to help his clients effectively accumulate, protect, distribute, and transfer their assets in the most tax efficient manner possible.
Matt also focuses on hiring and mentoring highly motivated, entrepreneurial-minded people who want to have an impact on their community. Andrew J. Pompe, CFP®
Andrew J. Pompe is a Senior Vice President with Karr Barth Associates, Inc. located in Bala Cynwyd, PA. A lifelong native of Philadelphia, Drew went on to obtain his B.S. degree in Finance from the Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University.
As a Senior Vice President, Drew focuses on in developing highly motivated, results-driven, passionate people who want to be in business for themselves, not by themselves. Drew works with sharp college graduates, as well as under-employed, frustrated professionals, helping them build a successful career, whereby they can make a difference in the lives of others.

Kenneth K. Apessos
Kenneth has developed a financial services business which focuses on assisting families, individuals, and closely held business owners to achieve their financial goals. He provides his clients with customized strategic planning based on their individual needs. Through financial needs analysis Kenneth can develop an in-depth assessment to formulate a customized strategy which helps his clients effectively accumulate, protect, distribute, and transfer their assets. He has aligned himself with other forward thinking professionals which allows him to provide more innovative ideas and potential strategies to his clients. Chris has always enjoyed both learning and teaching. This has led him to continually develop his knowledge about the personal finance environment. He takes great pride in helping his clients develop a full understanding of how all their financial belongings operate. Whether it’s their 401(k), pension plan, and/or insurance, informing clients how they function together and how to keep full control of those assets once they transition into retirement is a true passion.

John Paul Brennan
After nearly a decade passionately uplifting students to achieve their educational dreams within the Greater Philadelphia, Houston, and Permian Basin regions respectively as a teacher, grade-level chair, dean, and assistant principal, John Paul transitioned into the financial services sector to continue his life’s mission of serving others by helping families fulfill their financial aspirations as he ultimately believes that all individuals deserve an opportunity to achieve financial independence and confidence.
In order to drive results for his clients, John Paul develops a holistic-planning approach to educate and support them through a process of financial self-discovery before implementing a variety of investment and insurance strategies to help achieve wealth accumulation and asset protection.

Brandon Friday, CFP®
Brandon Friday is a Divisional Vice President with Firstrust Financial Resources in Philadelphia, PA. After attending St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia, he attended Bucknell University where he earned his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
His skills have earned him the respect of his clientele, which includes educators, school administrators, high-net-worth professionals, executives, and business owners. Brandon has helped these people develop investment strategies utilizing managed funds, defined contribution plans, and retirement income planning. Furthermore, he has introduced his clients to estate planning concepts, which helped reduce their estate taxes by using a variety of wealth transfer techniques. Elizabeth Caesar joinged Karr Barth Associates as Marketing Director in January 2014 to manage Branch marketing and provide marketing support to individual financial professionals. Jaime Hansen
Jaime Hansen works with executive management to reach branch recruitment goals, coordinates diversity recruiting initiatives, and expands recruitment efforts. She also represents the company in building and maintaining relationships with colleges and universities in the Greater Philadelphia area. Kimberly Karr
Kimberly Karr is the Director of Recruiting and Sales Management at Karr Barth Associates. She works closely with Branch and District Managers in regards to bringing in new financial services associates. She graduated from Lehigh University with a BA in Economics. She began her carerr with Equitable in New York City in 1984. Kim joined the Philadelphia Branch as the Securities Products Coordinator in 1987, and later became the Director of Marketing as well. She shifted her focus to recruiting in 1998. Her role has recently expanded into the areas of marketing and sales management.

Terry Puskar
Terry is proud to be a part of the Karr Barth family for the last 29 years. She worked most recently as Executive Assistant to Tim Maguire, President of Karr Barth. In her early years, she was the assistant to several Experience Sales Force (ESF) and delighted in her multi-task role when working with the managers and Developing Sales Force (DSF) as District Assistant. She also had the opportunity to work in the Compliance Department.
Experience gained throughout her 29+ years with Karr Barth has equipped Terry well for her newest role as Branch Licensing Coordinator. As BLC, her abilities and attention to detail make her instrumental in helping all the District Managers, District Manager Assistants, and new candidates to work beyond the multi-phase interview process, hiring paperwork, and contracting stage.
Terry uses her insight and knowledge of the industry and acquired diverse skills to make the transition to Equitable Advisors/Karr Barth a smooth process.

Michael Swider
Michael Swider has been with Karr Barth Associates for over 25 years and provides high-level support to the Branch in the area of Technology, Infrastructure & Operations. He works closely with all Branch Management, Associates and Staff in developing, implementing, and monitoring efficiency procedures throughout the Branch offices. Technology & facilities management is his primary focus throughout the Branch llocally and plays an important role as liaison between the Branch and Headquarters.
